Hardware replacement – server cobra

Earlier this evening the server cobra went down due to a network card failure. We have commissioned the datacenter for replacement however as they did not have a spare part at hand, it would take longer to get one delivered onsite. We are following up on them to get this done asap. We apologize for the downtime caused to clients who have their sites hosted on this server.

Panda server outage

Since this afternoon we are experiencing some outage on our server panda, due to an ongoing DDoS attack on the server main IP. This has caused over one hour downtime to clients hosted at this server, and our own email and support system as well. We are working with the datacenter to resolve this issue. Emergency network upgrade and datacenter maintenance notification

We have been informed by our datacenter that they will be conducting an emergency upgrade of the datacenter network on Thursday, January 12th, from 7:30PM to midnight. A few core elements of the datacenter will be replaced while new hardware added with the objective of improving the network stability and have a more redundant infrastructure to face network-wide DDoS attacks similar to the one that happened on January 1st at 1:00AM

As hardware devices will be disconnected during the upgrade, there will be short period of downtime during that period, however we expect the total amount of downtime not to exceed one hour. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Large scale DDOS attack at Hong Kong datacenter

Earlier this morning our primary datacenter had suffered a large scale DDoS attack accross most its IP ranges. This has affected the access to both our shared hosting servers and customer rented servers between 1 and 3AM in the morning, in particular the international connectivity. The datacenter technicians have worked outnight to fend the attack and restore the network.

Upgrade to the server panda

We will be upgrading the CPU of the server panda tonight to one that is more powerful in order to improve its overall performance. The upgrade will start at 8:00PM Hong Kong time. There will be a 20~30mn downtime as the server needs to be powered off to performe the CPU replacement.

Jaguar server DDoS

Since early this morning the server jaguar is under DDoS attack. This is affecting the access or speed of websites hosted on it. We are working with datacenter to mitigate the attack and find a solution. Server migration notification

Over the last 72 hours, we have experienced two major downtimes on server tiger. While in both cases the issues were eventually resolved, we have evaluated the situation and have decided to migrate all accounts on that server to a new server (named panda) hosted at a different datacenter in order to improve the overall reliability and meet the uptime levels our customers expect.

Both direct clients and resold accounts will be migrated over the next few days. For customers with their domain names registered through KowloonHosting, you will not need to anything from your end as everything will be taken care of by our server admins, you will receive by email your new access details when migration is completed. For other customers, as well as resellers, you will be notified by e-mail of the new IP address and nameservers.

We apologize for all effects of the previous outages, however we are taking all the measures to ensure that the appropriate measures are taken to improve our level of service.
